Windows 10: Error 52 on WiFi adapter

Hi everyone, I ran into a particularly annoying problem this afternoon.

I was using my laptop when it suddenly gave me a BSOD with an UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION. I restarted it only to find my WiFi adapter not working; I went into Device Manager and found an error message that read:

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Error 52)

I tried running sfc, rolling back the driver, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but nothing has worked so far. I'd really rather not be forced to do a system restore, so are there any other possible solutions to this problem?

Multiple device drivers with Code 52 leading to a myriad of other errors

Hello,

Let us first resolve the Code 52 error before proceeding with reinstalling Windows 10. We suggest that you uninstall the drivers that are indicated with a yellow triangle and then re-install if from device's support site. Here are the steps:

• Search for Device Manager.
• Look for the drivers you are referring to.
• Right-click on it and then choose Uninstall.
• Download the driver from the device's support site.

Cannot uninstall wifi adapter

Hello Calvin,

• When was the last time the WiFi adapter is working fine?
• Are you getting any error messages?
• What are the troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

Wifi adapter disappears - goes 'hidden'


Running Windows 10 on an Acer laptop. Over the past month, the wifi connection dropped without explanation/warning.

First time, the adapter was visible in Device Manager (with a yellow triangle next to it). An interent search found the suggestion to uninstall it and restart. That worked.

Today, the connection dropped again. In Device Manager at first I could not see the wifi adapter listed. I clicked to see hidden devices and found the adapter and the Bluetooth (which I had not noticed was missing).

I again uninstalled, restarted, and both the wifi and bluetooth have returned.

Anyone any ideas as to what is happening, why it's happening, and what I need to do, please?

I have attached a screenshot of the DM windows as it is now, showing the wifi adapter name, etc.
