    Error 633: The modem or other connecting device is already in use

    Error 633 is showing while connect to internet with Dial up modem connection after get Creator update of Windows 10 pro

    Dial up worked fine in 1607. With the update to Creators' build it now reports "error 633 - com port in use."

    The modem has always been on COM 3. Tried ports 5, 9, 11. Same. COM 1, the only port listed in Device Manager, is shown as "in use." Process Explorer shows no info when queried for "serial."

    Searched, read and tested virtually every suggested fix...

    Uninstalled and reinstalled dial-up connection

    Clean installed Windows 1703 version 15063 again

    Uninstalled modem (in Safe Mode), booted normally and updated modem driver

    Created a "reserved-ports" registry entry for port 1723

    Ran net stat -aon search for port 1723; it's not listed

    Remove and than Add modem in Phone & Modem option

    and I've tried many process but not fix error 633

    Disabled the broadband adapter temporarily and turned off the broadband modem temporarily

    SFC /scannow shows no errors.

    There are no VPN connections on this PC.

    And I've tried many process but not fix error 633 yet.

    This isn't a modem fault; MS FAX works fine.

    Dial up connection worked fine on 1511 O/S & till updated to 1607.

    But after applied Creators' update this error 633 is causing.. What's the problem ?

    I,m Tired & worried, so please fix it for us as soon as possible.
