Windows 10: "ERROR: a memory allocation request failed" with 128Gb RAM?

I am encountering "ERROR: a memory allocation request failed" and the program exits after completing about 90% of my analysis. After a bit of bing-ing and googling I found that this is caused when the system runs out of memory. But I find it absurd because at the time of exiting, the ram consumption of the command line window in which my program is running is only about 700Mb and I have 128Gb of RAM in my system. In the task manager also, I see only about 8Gb in use out of 128Gb RAM at the time when this error is shown. I had about 19Gb of page file size which seemed useless since I have enou

Your memory usage looks normal, 'Allocated (committed) Memory' is not RAM, it is known as virtual address space and is allocated by the software running on your PC as what it may need in the future and some of this can be in RAM and some in Virtual Memory on your drive, rest assured, there is no indication of a problem with your memory usage.

any program ask a system for memory it needs. If program itself requires only 4600MB there is no a way to allocate more memory. Allocation is done only by program requests. So if you think the program will run better with more memory asks program's developers.

Maybe it's time to step back from the current efforts, and start over. The one that may provide you with some easy relief is the one where you uninstall the device whose descriptor is failing, reboot, and see what happens when device enumeration recurs during boot-up. If you're lucky, it will fix itself.
