Error: Application has been disabled by System Admin when running Elevated command prompt...

Hello, I'm a system admin and I've just applied Windows 1809 security baseline to an OU for some new Windows 10 machines. When I try to run an elevated permission Command Prompt, I get a blue prompt indicating "This app has been blocked by your system administrator. Contact your system administrator for more info."

In Windows 8.1, when I needed to help a user by installing some app, I'd run and elevated command prompt and be done. When I try to do that with 1809 applied, I get this error.

I see all the sites that suggesting ways to get around this but none work or match what I see. I also can't find where in the 1809 security baseline where applocker may be preventing this as the only settings I can find are for a DC.

We've been on 8.1 until now so Windows 10 and it's nuances are new and no google-foo I can do seems to land on my issue. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  2. Elevated Command Prompt

    Hi Tommy,

A command prompt is an entry point for typing computer commands in the Command Prompt window. By typing commands in an elevated command prompt, you can perform tasks that require administrator rights on your computer without using the Windows graphical interface.
You may open an elevated Command Prompt by following the steps below.

    1. Open the Start menu, and type cmd to open the search box.

    2. When Command Prompt shows up in the search results, right click or press and hold on it, then click/tap on
    Run as administrator.

Feel free to post your query should you need assistance.

    Windows Application Error 0xc0000022

    Hello Jon,

A corrupted system file is one of the possible reasons why you get this Windows application error when attempting to open a PDF file. Given that, we highly suggest performing the following methods to isolate and troubleshoot this issue.

    Method 1: Run DISM

The DISM may help you to fix some Windows corruption errors. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Right-click the Start Menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Run this command: DISM.EXE /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    • If the operation is completed successfully, close the command prompt and check if your issue has been fixed.

Method 2: Run System File Checker

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Right-click the Start Menu and select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Run this command: SFC /scannow
    • This may take several minutes to finish. If Command Prompt shows
Verification 100% complete, close the command prompt and check if your issue has been fixed.
