    Error code 0x80042405-0xA001A


    I have a PC for which Windows 10 will not launch past displaying the date and time on a colour background. Attempts to get to Safe Mode by triggering Advanced Recovery Environment have failed. On two different PCs I have tried to create installation capability on a USB drive. Both times , at the end of a lengthy installation process, I read There was a problem running this tool and quoting this error code.

    I am closing in on my wits' end, because I have a lot of useful files stored on a broken PC I am so far unable to fix.

    This worked for me:

    Format USB FAT32 mode

    Copy MediaCreationTool.exe directly to USB, and execute it from th USB.

    Formatear el USB con el sistema FAT32

    Copiar el archivo MediaCreationTool.exe directamente al USB, y ejecutarlo desde allí.

    So this is my second time trying to download Windows 10 to USB with 32GB of storage so there is a lot of space available.

    But when it gets to 100% with downloading it gives me this message:

    There was a problem running this tool. We're not sure what happened, but we're unable to run this tool on your PC. If you continue experiencing problems, reference the error when contacting customer support. Error code 0x80042405 - 0xA001A

    Can someone please help me with this? Should I rather download it as an ISO and then burn it to the USB using a different program? Or download it on a different PC?

    Error Message 0x80042405 - 0xA001A When Creating Windows 10 USB

    HI,

    I've tried to download the media creation tool from the site mentioned, I can run the tool, it downloads the information, but when it tries to check the data, then it's when I get the error message. I've also tried another approach that some people found
    successful (that is to run the tool directly from the pen drive I'm using to create the bootable disk... no luck there either).

    Any other suggestion that you can provide so I can create this bootable pen drive ??
