Windows 10: Error code 0x80070002 stopping Windows Update, .NET Framework 3.5, etc.

I've had a serious problem for the past week or so with my pretty new Windows 11 laptop. It's been working fine for a while, but as of late, it seems to refuse to install anything system related. I tried to install an older game which required .NET Framework 3.5, and was hit was an error code: 0x80070002. This error code has also affected my recent Windows updates and I have been unable to install any of them, and I even tried to run a virtual machine with Windows on it to try to get away from the errors, and my virtual machine was immediately stunted by the 0x80070002 error code. OK, the Windows 10 Feature installation method should have been straightforward, but since that errored out as well, something else seems to be going on with your Windows, so wait for somebody with more experience to suggest a way out.

In the mean time, if you haven't already, you could give muchomurka's suggestion a go as well with the elevated prompt and an install media to see if it works. The following link shows the detailed steps involved.
