Windows 10: error code 0x80070002 while trying to update

ive had this issues for a few months now and havent been able to update to the newest version of windows for a while. i tried to update to windows 11 to see if that would fix it but got that error code. ive tried manually downloading and installing the update from the microsoft website but have had no luck. debating factory reset but would rather not, any tips?

Error 0x80070002 when trying to update Windows

I have been having issues for months with Windows 10 updates failing due to Error 0x80070002 on my gaming laptop. The full message reads:

2019-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4503286) -Error 0x80070002.

I am currently on version 1803 (OS Build 17134.590) and I'm being told "You're currently running a version of windows that's nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements."

I have followed the instructions on Error Code 0x80070002 Fixed – Eassos Step-by-Step Tutorial but this hasn't resolved the problem. Does anybody know how to fix this?

 

0x80070002 error code in windows update

My windows 10 version is Home, 20H2. Build 19042.630I'm trying to download cumulative update KB4592438. I keep getting 0x80070002 error code.






I also ran the windows troubleshooter and it says that it fixed the issue, but I still keep getting the same error. Here's the detailed report.



I also did multiple reboots of my laptop. I ran sfc/scannow but it didn't find any errors. What should I do to resolve this issue?
