    Error code 0x80070006 - 0x90017 while upgrading Windows 10 with Media Creation Tool


    Hello. I was upgrading one of my computers from the November Update to the April 2018 Update using the Media Creation Tool. I select all my setting and such, then I get the error.

    0x8007043C - 0x90017 error when trying to run media creation tool on windows 10

    The error code 0x8007043C - 0x90017 means that the tool doesn't have permission for it to run. For us to assist you, we suggest that you follow the simple steps listed below:

    1. Right-click on the Media Creation Tool.exe.

    2. Press Properties.

    3. Click on General.

    4. At the bottom, click on Unblock.

    5. Press Apply, and then OK.

    Let us know how it goes and if you need further assistance, feel free to post back.

    You can also try downloading the ISO file directly, create a bootable copy then perform the upgrade.
