Windows 10: Error Code 0x80070057 during update & installation of apps through the Microsoft Store.

I am facing an issue where certain apps on the Microsoft Store are not updating & installing. The error message that pops up is "Something happened on our end" with code 0x80070057. The apps that are facing this problem are Whatsapp, HP Smart, MSN Weather, Microsoft To Do & Windows Clock. This issue persists on the admin account only. No such problem occurred for the other user accounts on my laptop.

Error 0x80070057 when installing apps from Microsoft Store

Hello,

Out of nowhere, I was updating some apps on the Microsoft Store and I started getting an error at the end of the download. It simply says that "Something unexpected happened" and it says the error code is 0x80070057.

I've also since updated to Windows 20H2 v2 (build 19042.867).

I've tried sfc and dism, WSReset and the apps troubleshoot, but nothing really did anything.

Is there anything else I can do to try and solve this issue?

Try a clean startup:

Launch System Configuratiion (msconfig)

on the Services tab:

Hide all Microsoft servicesPress the [Disable all] button

on the Startup tab: Press Open Task Manager
Disable all items listed
Close Task Manager
Press [Ok] on the System Configuration window

Restart your machine
Try a manual Windows Update from Settings -> Update and Recovery (not Control Panel)

The issue might be HW related.

A few other suggested fixes were to run wsreset

This might have more affect (works on Win10, not just Win8.x)
Store - Re-register in Windows 8 and 8.1

Try all three and test an update.

 

Error code: 0x80070057 when installing Intel Media SDK DFP in Microsoft Store

After checking for update of apps in Microsoft Store, I'm shown that Intel Media SDK DFP has an update.

But when trying to install the update, it fails and I get Error code: 0x80070057.
