Windows 10: Error code 0xC1900101-Ox30018

Upgrade to Win 10 failed three times showing the above error codes.

Sony VAIO Laptop previously with Vista then I upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate. I have followed a suggested fix see below but alas it did not help, any ideas or do I give up?

- Try installing the update again, do the following before:

1. Open a Command Prompt (Run as Administrator)

2. Type: cd %windir% and press the Enter key.

3. Type: net stop wuauserv and press the Enter key

4. Type: ren softwaredistribution softwaredistribution.old and press the Enter key.

5. [ Note: if you get an error message, ignore and type the above again and press Enter ]

6. Type: net start wuauserv and press the Enter key.

7. Type: Exit and press Enter, then go back and check for Windows Updates again.

When the download reaches 100%, disconnect from the Internet immediately if you are connected by Ethernet or Wireless.

can't upgrade from Win 8 to 10

Installation of Windows 10 from V8 stops about 40% and gives error code OxC1900101-Ox30018

 

Win 10 Installation

Installation from Win 7 failed repeatedly in the FIRSTBOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP operation. The fault code is OxC1900101-Ox30018. Please help.

 

I had a similar error see attached picture:

on 2 computer when I tried to upgrade from b240 to an iso I made from the b586 esd

When I removed the Audigy card from the one computer and removed the metered connection wi-fi restriction the upgrade completed

 

Thanks for this but I do not understand the terms ISO, b240 and b586esd can you explain please to help me out.

I did disconnect the Lap-top from the Internet after it had downloaded the OS from the M/Soft site but again it failed to install in fact I tried three times the first time as a straight install with the software/apps and documents intact the second time without the apps and the third time a 'clean install' with no apps and no documents etc.

I have also installed 10 successfully on my desktop PC without disconnecting from the internet and again on my netbook without any problems.

 

I used the build 586 (th2) electronic delivery esd to make an install ISO and tried to upgrade my Windows 10 (build 240) with that.
I was only successful once I removed the metered connection restriction on my Wi-Fi Internet connection AND removed my Creative labs Audigy sound card. I do not know which of the 2 was the solution.

I do have believe that if MS delivers the TH2 upgrade in the form of a cumulative upgrade instead of an esd the upgrade may be better because I assume no driver changes will then occur.

 

Well that is the fifth time of trying and the same thing happens again looks as if MS and its much vaunted Win Ten is not for me and to have to chuck away a perfectly good laptop which cost when new £850 is a tragedy.*Sad
