Windows 10: Error Code 80090016 when computer says to 'fix one of my accounts' now cannot log into my...

My laptop started taking a performance hit, then showed a notification that one of my accounts needed 'fixing' so I went through with it.

1. I log into my laptop with a personal Office 365 account

2. the account it wanted to fix is my corporate account

3. there was a checkbox that said "Allow your organization to take control of your machine" something like that and I meant to deselect it.

4. the laptop then did a hard reboot

5. My pin no longer works

6. neither password works - not personal nor the corporate account

7. it is giving me a password hint and I know the answer, but the hint will not work.

8. Password reset requires a USB but I never ever had a password recovery disc


This is windows 10 - I have a death in the family and am trying to order death certs online and go through the government checklist and now my machine is inaccessible. I have borrowed a PC and my passwords work logged into a browser but nothing works with the laptop. The device no longer shows under my personal account. The device also does not show under my tenant or under my corporate E3 profile. It is like my device login has gone into the ether.

Error code 80090016

I have no issues logging into my Surface; however, Office 365 and OneDrive will not log into account. I use my username and PW and when I click continue I get the error code 80090016.

I tried to use the Virtual Assistant to reach a human being. I have to login to access a support person, and when I enter my username it says it does not exist, so the Virtual Assistant suggests to create a new account. When I try and create a new account
with my actual username I get an error that the username is already in use.

How to I solve error code 80090016 and why is it so hard to talk to a support person at Microsoft?

Error Code 80090016 on windows version 10 upgrade to version 2004

On 21 June my HP desktop suggested a version 10 upgrade. Since downloading it I am getting an Error code 80090016. Can anyone please help?

Something went wrong error code 80090016 - what do I do to fix?

Trying to sign into One Drive on Word on my desktop to upload changes. This error message came up:

"Something went wrong. Your computer's Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned. If this error persists, contact your system administrator with the error code 80090016."

How do I resolve this problem?
