Windows 10: Error code 8024402f "protection definition update failed" when downloading updates for...

Each time I try and update the windows defender AV updates i get the error "protection definition update failed".Only when i disable the windows update service services.msc i am able to download the definitions updateI have enough disk space for sure and sfc /scannow does not show any errors or loss of integrityWhat is the solution to being able to download the definitions with windows update service enabled?Thanks

You tried setting to not get updates then rebooting and then turning it back on ?


I did come across this too, but only gives a MAYBE fix LMAO.

I Haven't updated my windows defender since December last year I tried updating it today and got this:

"Protection definition update failed.

Error Code: -2147023278

Error description: Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install"

Now the problem is I'm not installing anything so why is it showing this message?
