  1. Error code- Access Shared Drive- "You do not have permission to access \\PC_NAME contact...

I have checked workgroup, searched web did all "repairs", I can see the network drive but when I try to connect told I do not have permission. checked printer and device sharing, no password needed. Have been able to set up network in all previous versions of Windows and DOS 5-7. Win 10 is about to get the last of my hair. Made sure all network permissions were correct. HELP!!

P.S. Please do give me the stock answers listed elsewhere here. Been there done that.

    :)

Win 10 You do not have permission to access (drive). Contact your netw

On two of my three laptops (Sony & W700) I get this error when I attempt to access some network drives that have been shared - "You do not have permission to access (drive). Contact your network administrator to request access."
I just did a clean install of Win10 x64 Pro on my desktop and shared out 11 drives with full permissions. On one of my laptops (Lenovo) I can access all 11 drives on two other laptops I cannot access 5 of the 11 drives. They are the same drives on both laptops. When I shared the drives I picked the option "People without a user account and password for this computer can access folders shared with everyone" and granted full permissions for all. All systems are running Win10 x64 pro and the login IDs are admin level.

I've attached two images, the first image includes for each laptop (Sony, Lenovo and W700) the drives I'm trying to access. The drives highlighted in red I cannot access on the Sony and W700 system, the drives in green can be accessed.
The newest install of Win10 is on my desktop (S4, this is a clean install of Win10) had Win8.1 installed and had the 11 drives shared out and at that time none of the systems had access issues.
Following are things that I have tried
    1. Removed the share and re-shared the drives on the S4 (my desktop)
    2. On the two problem systems, disconnected the problem drives and re-mapped them
    3. All systems have been rebooted

Error: You do not have permissions to access \\ PC name while trying to access and Excel file

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand that when you try to access an Excel file, you get an error. It would be great if you can help us with the details requested below to help you further with the issue:

    • Does this issue occur while accessing any other file?
    • Is the computer connected to a Domain/organizational network?
    • Which build version of Windows are you using? To check type:
winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
      Enter.

We would suggest you to try accessing the shared folder using the path and see if that helps. Follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Press Windows key + R, to open
      Run
      dialog box.
    2. Type \\shared folder path and click on
      OK.

However, you may try providing permissions to the folder where the files are saved and see if you are able to access the files. Refer the steps mentioned below:

    1. Navigate to the location on the PC through which the files are shared.
    2. Right click on the folder and select Properties.
    3. Click on Sharing tab, and click on
      Advanced Sharing.
    4. Now, select the checkbox for Share this folder.
    5. Click on Permissions, select the check box for
      Allow Full Control.
    6. Click on OK (Twice).

    Refer screenshot below:

If an IT Administrator manages the folder, then you may have to get in touch with the administrator to reset or grant permissions to access the file.

You may also refer the suggestions provided by Roohi_Taj replied on November 28, 2018 in the thread

You do not have permission to access \\PC_NAME contact your network administrator to request access
    .

    Let us know the results.

  4. Error code- Access Shared Drive- "You do not have permission to access \\PC_NAME contact...

    cannot access file/or permissions

I have a file i need to run on Windows 7 Home Premium. I get the error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

So I right click and choose Properties to access the permissions but I cannot. In the Security tab I get a message saying, " You do not have permission to view or edit this objects permission settings.".

Next I boot into the Windows 7 Hidden Administrator Mode - and even with this I get all the same error messages.

Please help me as I really need to run This file.
