Windows 10: Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component

Hy, i have the error Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component when i try to add a rule or modify one in gpedit and secpol. I need to block microsoft store, help me, Windows 10 professional 22h2 all update, i tried to execute DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and sfc /scannow but the problem is still there.Thank you

Overdrive Library App returns error HRESULT E_FAIL when trying to download a book

Overdrive support say this failure is a Windows problem. When I try to download a talking book the error message
HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component is returned. Has anyone experienced this and been able to resolve it? Searching the Microsoft database seems to return answers relevant to programmers - I am a user.

 

What does "hresult e_fail has been returned from a call to a com component" mean?

Can you help

Everytime I open Nvidia GeForce I get this Message:
hresult e_fail has been returned from a call to a com component

I googled E_fail it showed me this nummber 0x80004005(had to google because there was no nummber on the error message).

I tried to install GeForce new (twice), didn't work. Nvidia told me it's not on of their bugs. So the problem has to be something else.

Overdrive win 10 Library App returns error HRESULT E_FAIL to COM component

Using Overdrive win 10 app on SP4 win 10 pro version 1607 os build 14393.693

App loads fine but will not download files (MP3 format) .. when I select that option for an audio book I get the message "Error Downloading file -- HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a COM component

I have reinstalled the app, rebooted, cleared cache, run win 10 app trouble shooter etc with appropriate reboots .. same problem

All win 10 updates have been installed

Chats with MSFT support for windows apps and with MSFT support for windows did not resolve the problem ... bounced me around

Overdrive Help says it is a windows problem and to contact MSFT ... no help

There have been other posts about this problem with no evident resolution

Suggestions? No a problem with browsers etc. Oddly, the app works fine on a HP Stream Tablet 7 with win 10 home same version and build of windows .. no obvious differences in settings or permissions

Firewall settings are the same on both machines for the Overdrive app
