Everyone I try to run a .exe file (whether it's Rufus, or an installer) I get an error message that reads this: * File location * File system error (-1073741571)

Please help. I can re install Windows if it's that bad. I just want to be able to run installers on my main pc. Thanks

    file system error -1073741571

    Hi Troy,

If you are unable to uninstall a program, it could be that there is an app or program that is blocking the app from installing. Before we proceed with troubleshooting, we would like to know more about the issue that you are experiencing. Kindly respond to
    the questions below:

    • What is the exact error message that you get when attempting to install the program? This is for us to see and to determine what might cause the installation to fail. If possible, kindly post a screenshot of the error message.
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far? This is for us to know and to avoid any duplication of efforts on your end.

We look forward to your response.

  3. Windows Update Error Message 0x80070543

Ya Ya Ya, there's over a hundred threads like this, ...

Anyway, started getting this error message a few days ago, and done a lot of searching on this error message, apparently it's not, uncommon.

In particular, the (currently) 4 updates that are being affected are:
    • Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3173428) - Error 0x80070543
    • Security Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3172729) - Error 0x80070543
    • Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3174060) - Error 0x80070543
    • Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3176493) - Error 0x80070543

The actions I've taken to date are:
    1. Uninstalled firewall program (comodo)
    2. Uninstalled anti-virus (Avast)
    3. Reset the windows update catalog on local machine.

So the above errors are with the above done.

What other steps should I be taking to resolve the issue?

Below is notations for when I actually add to this thread.

    1. Attempted to use the troubleshooter, no dice.

    file system error -1073741571

When i tried to open cmd with administrator privileges, I received file system error -1073741571. Because of that, I ran cmd with admin privileges in safe mode. I checked both my internal and external hard drives, but the problem
is still occurring. All the games and most of the applications I try to open just crash within seconds of being open and I don't know what's wrong.
