Hey everyone! I wanted to get into playing an old game that I used to play during the Windows Vista-Windows 7 era, but every time I try to launch the application, the error message "Failed to enumerate any DirectX 9 compatible graphics adapters in this system! .. Please make sure you have a DirectX9 compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest manufacturer provided driver. .. The application will now terminate..." appears. I currently have the latest version of Windows 10, which has DirectX 9-12 already installed. I have tried just about everything at this point to fix it, and I h

We appreciate the update. Since the issue is still the same even if you have DirectX 9 or later, we suggest that you reinstall your graphic card drivers instead. Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows Key + X and choose Device Manager.
• Go to Display Adapters section and locate your graphic card driver.
• Right click the driver and choose Uninstall.
• Check Remove the driver software for this device and click
  OK.
• After you’ve uninstalled the driver, restart your computer.
• When your computer restarts, go to your graphic card manufacturer’s website and download the latest drivers for your graphic card.
• Install the downloaded drivers.

DirectX 9

Thank you for your response. The 9th version of Direct X had already been downloaded and installed. From this page. My graphics card probably is not compatible with DirectX 9 or Windows 10 can not use the DirectX version 9 for an unknown reason.

Yes, you will receive this error while trying to download DirectX 9 since this version of Directx is available for Windows XP service pack 2.

However, I would suggest you try running your game in Compatibility mode. Check if it helps.

1. Open the folder where your game is located.

2. Right-click on the game and select Troubleshoot Compatibility.

3. After Detecting Issue is done, click on Troubleshoot Program.

4. Check the box for any one of the option, preferably The program worked in earlier versions of Windows but won't install or run now and click
Enter.

5. Click on the version of Windows for which your game was working well and
Next.

6. Click on Test Program and check if your program works fine for this version.

7. If it does, then click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Also, download and update Graphics Card from the Manufacturer's Website.

Follow the steps to update the Graphics Card drivers:

• Go to the Manufacturer's website and download the latest Graphics Card driver.
• Download and run the setup file.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation.
• Press Windows key + X key and click on
  Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter
• Right-click on the Graphics card and click on Update Driver Software.
