  1. Error Message is D:\Desktop is Unavailable

If I go into file explorer and go to desktop I get this message. I think but can't confirm that when I backed up my files and folders to a San Disk flash drive I backed up the D drive and must have deleted it. Any suggestions?

    :)

  2. Blank desktop & error message c:\Windows\system32\systemprofile\desktop is unavailable

    Hi Tracy,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

You may try the below suggested steps to fix the issue.

    1. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL on your keyboard to load Task Manager.
    2. Click on File >
      New Task.
    3. A new dialog box will open. Type in “Iexplore” to launch the Internet explorer and hit Enter.
    4. Proceed to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO in
      Internet Explorer.
    5. Choose the Gear (Options) > Developer Options (F12) > Emulation Options
    6. Under Emulation Options: Change the User agent string to "BingBot" to receive the ISO DL prompts on the site instead of MCT.
    7. Download/Save Win10_1809Oct_English_x64.iso locally to the machine

Note: Please take the backup of important data before moving to further steps.

    Steps to backup data

    2. Type in Notepad and click on Enter.
    3. Repeat this process and place both Notepad files side by side.
    4. Browse to your desktop, copy all the files which you require.
    5. On the other Notepad file, click on File > Open > Select the USB drive, then paste the files to the USB drive or your preferred external storage device.

Steps to perform in place upgrade.

    1. From NotePad.exe > Mount the downloaded ISO via the File, Open Dialog in Notepad.exe, using this dialog as a File Explorer.
    2. If Explorer.exe is not available, Right Click the appropriate ISO file and choose Mount.
    3. After mounting the ISO, run Setup.EXE but right clicking the appropriate location (Ex. Setup.exe in DVD Drive D Error Message is D:\Desktop is Unavailable :) in the File > Open dialog in Notepad.exe and choosing Run as administrator.
    4. Proceed with standard Setup, In-Place upgrade operations to upgrade the customer to Windows 1809 to bypass the error state and complete setup to a desktop.

  3. D:\ Desktop is unavailable

Today i got on my PC and my desktop was empty. Everything on my D drive (hard disk) is not accessible. When I try to open something thats on it a window pops up that says "D:\the folder is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device
or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, adn then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or Internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted." Also
the icon for the hard disk disappeared after some time and the only storage place I have is my SSD. My desktop, videos, documents and images folders are on the D drive and I can't access anything in them. Does anyone know what caused the problem and how to
    fix it?

    Windows Update Error Message 0x80070543

Ya Ya Ya, there's over a hundred threads like this, ...

Anyway, started getting this error message a few days ago, and done a lot of searching on this error message, apparently it's not, uncommon.

In particular, the (currently) 4 updates that are being affected are:
    • Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3173428) - Error 0x80070543
    • Security Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3172729) - Error 0x80070543
    • Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3174060) - Error 0x80070543
    • Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 (KB3176493) - Error 0x80070543

The actions I've taken to date are:
    1. Uninstalled firewall program (comodo)
    2. Uninstalled anti-virus (Avast)
    3. Reset the windows update catalog on local machine.

So the above errors are with the above done.

What other steps should I be taking to resolve the issue?

Below is notations for when I actually add to this thread.

    1. Attempted to use the troubleshooter, no dice.
