Windows 10: Error message related to not having a default email program

I recently downloaded a third party software to view a .pst file as I do not have Outlook installed on this computer. That software seems to work fine.However, ever since I installed the program, I am receiving this sporadic but persistent error message in a pop-up where the program name seems to be "Email": There is no email program associated to perform this requested action. Please install a email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default program in Control PanelThings to note:I have never used an email program on this laptop until nowThe "Email" program

Problem related to default email program.

Email program (by default in windows 10) is working fine on my laptop but the error massage is showing all the time.

• This issue starts when I upgraded my windows 10 version 1511 to the version 1703.
• I have changed only some settings to the default settings from control panel. as shown in screenshots.

Outlook 2016 - Error message "None Default Email Program" but there is one

One of our users has this message that pops up from time to time on his desktop.

The error message

The message appears from time to time but it is not connected to a specific action.

He told us that it appears generally when he moves a .msg to his file explorer but it is not systematic.

The problem is that the user’s PC is in the domain and we have a GPO that forces the default email program to be Outlook 2016 so the association is already created and existent.

Is there a way to resolve this?

This error message usually appears if you attempted to configure your email account to an Outlook client application, but it did not push through. We would like ask additional questions so we can further assist you:

• Aside from Windows 10 mail do you also have Outlook installed on your computer?
• Were you able to configure your email account with any of these email client applications (Windows 10 mail, Outlook)?

If it is true that you tried to configure your email account to Windows 10 Mail or Outlook, let us check if it was successfully set up. Here are the steps on how to do so:

• Click on the Start
  button.
• In the Search box, type Control Panel and press
  Enter.
• On the upper right of the window, make sure that View by is set to
  Small icons.
• Click Mail/Outlook.
• Check if there's an Outlook profile that was set up. If yes, highlight the profile and click
  Remove.
