Windows 10: Error message - The server storage quota has been exceeded.

On excel, on a few files, I have started receiving this error message. However, I have only used 64GB of the 1TB OneDrive storage. If a save a copy to my Desktop, which syncs to OneDrive, I dont receive the message. It seems to on shared folders, and all those on the shared folder, are on MS365 subs.

One Drive storage exceeded

I keep getting messages telling me "Server storage quota has been exceeded. "
If I disable One Drive, what happens to all that material that is there now? Is it also stored on my PC's hard drive, or do I somehow have to transfer the material back? Why is there a storage limit on the cloud? Being an "old fart" I am NOT "smart"
with PC use, so I need an EASY way to handle this. I have NO use or need for One Cloud. My PC memory is 1 TB, more than adequate for my needs.

I'm seeing this message on a lot of my Word documents.




Apparently it happens for files that are stored in a folder that is rooted in OneDrive, which makes the file shareable between my PC and my Microsoft Surface Book. In fact, there are very few Word file that I need to share. Where can I find my quota?



I also share some .txt files Since I am the only user, I can manually synchronize changes to those file. But they still have to be rooted in OneDrive. So I suppose they count against my quota, right?

Finally, Is there a MS Windows Support article that explains how this works?
