Windows 10: Error message when trying to open photo files

I 'm trying to open photo files from a thumb drive created by a Mac mini in a JPG format on my Dell laptop running Windows 11 home. However, I get an error message stating the file format is not supported.. How can I fix this?

When I try to open a downloaded file, e.g. photo, I get an error message -- "This app can't open. There's a problem with Photos

When I try to open a downloaded file, e.g. photo, I get an error message -- "This app can't open. There's a problem with Photos. Contact your system administrator about repairing or installing it." A tech suggested going to the Microsoft store and downloading
the photos app. When click on "get the app" the screen blinks and nothing is downloaded.

• Do you have the copy of those photos and are you able to open those photos?

"Elemnt not Found" error message when trying to open jpg files

No, I am not importing from a camera so this does address my issue. These are photos I have scanned from Canon's My Image Garden directly to my computer. Prior to upgrading to Windows 10, once the photo was cropped and saved, I could simply click on the photo
and open it. Now when I click on the saved photo I get the Element Not Found error message and a suggestin to open the photo with a different application.
