error product key 0xc004f050 when upgrade to windows 11 pro, do i need to installing or upgrading to windows 11 pro version before entering the key? i tried using slmgr ipk but it gives me error 0xc004f069, and i tried the VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T key, but it didnt work, thank you.

Trying to upgrade to windows 10 pro from home, bought a new product key and getting error code 0xc004f050

[EDIT] I'm new to this forum so I'm unsure of the normal way of doing this, I have solved this issue and the solution is in a comment below.

I have run into a problem when trying to "downgrade" a computer from Windows 11 Home to Windows 10 Pro.

I was able to do a fresh install of 10 Home without issues, it activates and functions fine. However when I try to change the product key to a Genuine Product Key from Microsoft it consistently gives me the 0xc004f050 error "The product key you entered didn't work..."

I have tried both offline and online, with the generic Windows 10 Pro key, multiple geniuine 10 Pro keys as well as a Product Key for Windows 11 Pro, all give me the same error. I have several old Windows 10 Home keys laying around that are not in use and was able to change to another Home product key without issues, but again can not change that new Home key to a Pro key.

Please help, I am attempting this upgrade on 2 brand new HP All in One PC's for a client, the systems work fine and as expected on Windows 10 Home but their entire goal was to have Pro installed on these.

Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrade

Want to upgrade 11 Home to 11 Pro. Tried download, but apparently files transferred were for 11 Enterprise. This will not activate; error is "invalid digital license or product key". This is on a new Surface. How to proceed?

Can withdraw/delete this. The suggestion to downgrade - listed below - with a 'fake' windows 10 key works.
