Error trying to partition an exFAT, now entire drive is unusable

I purchased a brand new external HDD drive, which worked fine out of the box when connected.Having been requested to partition the disk into two equal volumes, I deleted the single existing volume from the drive, as recommended by Microsoft Support, and tried to create the first of two volumes through Disk Management.Received an error saying the partition could not complete, and now the entire drive cannot be used. "Initialize Disk" option is also greyed out now.How can I resolve this, and proceed with the request of creating two partitions on the drive?

    :)

Resizing exFAT partition with Windows results in corruption of drive?

Resizing a drive's exFAT partition with Windows 11 results in corruption of drive and loss of data.

    Steps:
    1. Insert flash drive. (Use an empty spare. Warning: Data may be lost!)
    2. Format drive to exFAT file system.
    3. Go to Windows Settings, System, Storage, Storage management, Disks & volumes.
    4. Go to proper drive partition, Properties.
    5. Change size of exFAT IFS partition to anything except default.
    6. Remove drive, reinsert. Windows states "Volume does not contain recognized file system" (RAW, can not read, asks to format).

    Notes:
By Windows 11, I mean the default Storage management available in Settings.
It seems "Change size" should not be available for exFAT?

Probably due to volume or boot information being modified incorrectly.
Windows will only format to this "new" size until using another tool to properly format the entire volume.
Have not tested old Disk Management to see if it behaves correctly (or prohibits resizing exFAT).
I've tried two drives with sames results (2TB SSD lost data, but had backup, confirmed steps with spare flash drive).
Windows can not run chkdsk on drive because it has no drive letter.
Other app (AOMEI PA) can run chkdsk, states "Corruption was found while examining boot region" but did not fix .
TestDisk can view data (neat), possibly recoverable. After quick format, can not view data.
TestDisk can repair boot sector (restore backup), but did not fix.

Hope this can be confirmed by others, help others avoid losing data, eventually Microsoft fixes (assuming it's not just me).

    Info:

    Windows 11 Pro (version 22H2, build 22621.2134)

Samsung T7 Shield 2TB SSD (portable drive, USB, exFAT)

Samsung FIT 64GB (flash drive, USB, exFAT)

    exFat

If anyone hasn't heard of exFat, take a look at this. exFAT - Wikipedia

Just swapped to exFat on all my portable drives. I got really frustrated with 4Gb file limitations on my portable drives, as well as limited partition sizes. And i don't use Linux or any other OS to much (Tho i should probably have a Linux box built just for formatting drives). And now that there's a patch for XP as well to support compatibility, i believe its worth it.

    Formating to exFAT

    Hi Taylor,

If you want to format an external hard drive or USB flash drive in exFAT, you can follow these steps:

    • Press and hold Windows key + x on your keyboard. This open the context menu.
    • Select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Type format g: /FS:exFAT and then Enter to begin formatting the G drive as exFAT
