Windows 10: Error when changing product key from Win11 Home to Pro

Hi, thanks for reading.I'm wanting to upgrade from my Windows 11 Home Single Language to Windows Pro English on my new laptop but everytime I enter the Win11 Pro Keys I bought on g2a.com it gives an error code of 0xc004f050. I;ve contacted the seller but he only gave a very short response and just didnt reply. His message is 'You bought windows 11 pro but your operation system windows 11 home. Do you want windows 11 home replacement key? You should fresh install Windows 11 Pro operation system to use windows 11 pro key if your operation system is not Windows 11 pro. It's not upgrade key , This

Upgrade from Win11 Home to Win11 Pro with a unused Win8 Pro Key?

Follow up: I tried to change the product key to the generic Win 11 product key VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T, which in theory should give me a unactivated Win 11 Pro, on which I could try the Win8 Pro product key (or even a Win 11 Pro Key from the MS Store). However the upgrade procedure immediately stops and tell me I don't have a valid product key.

Same thing happens if I just enter the Win8 Pro key. Apparently my Win 11 Home doesn't feel like being upgraded and that's it. I still can't help wondering what's exactly the point of the generic key though.

At least the system seems to be intact and the original OEM Win11 Home key is still in place, so I didn't have to restore anything.

 

Why was I not asked for a product key when upgrading to Win 10?

According to your spec you have Win 10 Pro, but perhaps that doesn't reflect your PC.

You haven't stated which edition of Win 10 you have on this machine, nor what your Win 10 key is for.

For example, if you already have Win 10 Pro and your key is Win 10 Home, that would be a retrograde step.

Win10 Home to W10 Pro Upgrade Error using Product Key

The Generic keys will work in change product key "if" that device "already has" a Digital License for that Edition. Most of my PC's have a Digital License for just about every Edition except N and KN. I used the Generic key to change to Education, and I can use the Pro one to go back to Pro. The only thing I can't do is go back to Home once I go up to Pro or above. I haven't entered an actual Retail key in a long while.
The current Visual Studio ISO's, Business and Consumer, have Education listed as an included edition.
