Windows 10: Error when downloading from Microsoft Store and Windows Update

On Microsoft Store, downloading any app at all will give me error code 0x80072F8F.


For Windows Update, clicking the button which checks for updates will give me this error:

"We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're connected to the Internet."


I searched online for the error code 0x80072F8F and it is said to affect both of the apps I'm having problems with, so I suspect the same underlying issue causing both of these. I've enabled the setting to automatically set my time and time-zone, so I have no idea what the issue could be.

• Processor: Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
• Laptop model: ASUS X550J

Error Code On Store

To download a game without this error, we suggest that you try resetting the Windows store with the following steps:

• Press Windows Key + R.
• Type, WSReset.exe, then hit enter.
