We are attempting to manually install HP Easy Start 15.8.7 on multiple machines and receiving an error. We run the exe as administrator using our admin credentials because the users do not have local admin on their own machine. It will bring up the prompt where it starts to install and just shows a blank white screen and then an error "Microsoft edge can't read and write to its data directory". Things we have triedroviding full control to Edge exe for the users accountProvided full control to the folder where Edge exe is locatedRan a repair on Microsoft EdgeRan a repair on Microsoft Edge Web

Microsoft Edge TLS Security

After trying everything (not a lot of steps) listed in the Microsoft Edge support site, I did a wider search and found this very simple youtube video that fixed it immediately:

For those who prefer not to click links the steps are simple:

1. Click in the Cortana search bar next to the Win 10 Start button

2. Type internet options

3. Select internet options (control panel) from the list

4. Click on the advanced tab

5. Scroll down to the security section

6. Make sure the following are all clicked:
Use SSL 3.0
Use TLS 1.0
Use TLS 1.1
Use TLS 1.2

7. Click apply

8. Refresh the page that was giving the error and it should now connect.

Hope this helps, it was a 30 second fix after hours of pounding my head against the error with the Support site suggestions.

 

Microsoft Edge Reading List Not Synchronizing

Thank you for the update on the issue.

If you are logged with Microsoft account in windows 10 & same account is used for download the app Reading list app, then the app should automatically sync with the edge.

Reading list not working in Microsoft Edge.

Hi Melvin,

This issue might have occurred if you have not signed in with your Microsoft Account. I suggest you to sign out and sign in with your Microsoft Account and check.

Also check if you have tried this.

In Microsoft Edge, just select Add to favorites or reading list  >
Reading list > Add. When you’re ready to read, select
Hub  > Reading list .
