Error when installing HP Universal ARM PCL6 Print Driver

To begin with, I am not an IT professional, I am self employed. So I can follow some aspects that are in the various chats but not when it gets into technical details. Here's the background. I have a Surface Pro 11 with Snapdragon processor. I have been using it for a few months and have an HP OfficeJet 8725 printer that I print through HP Smart. Printing had been fine until a couple weeks ago when, for specific documents, the print would exclude certain letters in the middle of the document. Each time I printed, the same letters would be excluded in the same spot, but the letters woul

    HP LaserJet 2100 PCL6 support under Windows 10 x64?

    Hello

I have two computers that were running Windows 8.1 and sharing a HP LaserJet 2100 printer.

One was running Windows 8.1 x86 and one Windows 8.1 x64. Both were using a PCL6 driver.

I upgraded both to Windows 10.

After the upgrade the one running Windows 10 x86 could still print to the HP LaserJet using a PCL6 driver.

But the one running Windows 10 x64 could not (no error but nothing would come out), and opening the printer properties dialog I would get a message complaining about the driver HP LaserJet 2100 PCL6 driver missing.

I therefore attempted to manually install the missing PCL6 driver using the standard printer properties dialog but got an error message telling me that a policy prevents NT 4 drivers from being installed.

Eventually I downloaded the HP Universal Printing PCL 5 driver directly from HP website and this one worked.

While I can now print from both computers I am somewhat bothered by the fact that I have to rely on a PCL 5 driver when I could use a PCL6 driver with Windows 8.1.

Is PCL6 not supported by Windows x64? What is this policy that prevents NT 4 drivers from being installed?

    Thanks!

  3. Okidata c5300 Windows 10 PCL6 Driver Not Printing

Anup, thank you for your reply. While the actions you suggested didn’t fix my problem, I have figured out what I did wrong.

Essentially, I did not see the correct printer driver because I missed clicking on a button to get to the “windows update” print drivers and was only seeing the print drivers included with the basic Windows 10 installation. I figured this out when I uninstalled
the OkiData PCL6 driver intending to reinstall the driver to see if that my fix the problem and in the process realizing I missed a critical “windows update” button on the way. To help out others, below is a list (from the very beginning so be patient) of
the steps necessary to install the print driver.

    1) Open the Control Panel (right click on the Windows start button on the lower left corner and select Control Panel or search for Control Panel in the search text box)

    2) From the Control Panel select Devices and Printers (it may take a little bit to pull this up)

    3) From Devices and Printers select Add a Printer from the menu near the top left hand corner of the window

    4) From the Add a Printer pop up window, after done searching and not finding, your older printer, select “The printer that I want isn’t listed”

    5) For older printers like the OkiData c5300n, select “My printer is a little older. Help me find it.” And click next. For me, Windows found my OkiData printer on the network at this point. I would assume other older printers and/or USB or parallel port
connected printers may also be found at this point. Once you see the printer you want, you can click the Stop button and continue on from there. Note, if yours is a network connected printer, you will need to ensure that all the networking is set up correctly
for your computer to see the printer on the network.

    6) At this point is where I made my mistake. The initial list of OkiData drivers I saw included several dot matrix drivers and the OkiData PCL6 driver. Thinking the process had gone to the Microsoft driver database already, I selected the OkiData PCL6
driver that did not work properly. What I should have done is noticed the button marked “Update Windows” (or something like that, I’m doing this from memory), which will download many more drivers to your computer.

    7) From the new drivers, select OkiData as the manufacturer and select one of the drivers listed for the c5300 printer (I actually installed both the MS PCL driver and the MS PS—Post Script—drivers and installed two printers for my one device, both drivers
have printed correctly, so you may choose the protocol you prefer)

    8) Install the c5300 driver of your choice, follow the instructions, print the text page if you like or test with your own print job, and you are done.

  4. Error when installing HP Universal ARM PCL6 Print Driver

Error around Universal Print -- How can I fix and do I even need to use Universal Print?

    Dear GraniteStateColin

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand that you seem to be receiving errors related to the Universal Print . These errors occur after booting up and when manually starting the service, suggesting that the issue may be due to a missing or corrupted McpManagementService.dll file, which is a runtime library file related to remote printing in Universal Print.

You mentioned that you have tried running the DISM command for system repair. Did you encounter any errors while running that command?

Since you don't need the remote printing functionality, you can disable the service. However, if you want to fully resolve the issue, you can choose to replace the faulty McpManagementService.dll file with the correct version of the same file. There are two ways to obtain the correct McpManagementService.dll:

    1. Find the file on another computer that doesn't have the error: Go to \WINDOWS\System32\McpManagementService.dll, right-click on it, select Properties, and check the file version in the Details tab. If the file version matches the version on your computer, you can copy the correct McpManagementService.dll file from the other computer to replace the faulty file on your computer.
    2. Search online for someone sharing the file: Look for someone who is sharing the file online. Make sure to download a file that matches the version of the file on your computer.
You also mentioned that you downloaded the HP Universal Print driver and you want to understand the difference between that and the Universal Print in Windows. Universal Print technology is a cloud-based printing solution provided by Microsoft. It allows printing directly over the network without the need for local printer configuration. On the other hand, the HP Universal Print driver is specifically designed for HP printers and is required for local printer configuration when using HP printers.

If the problem is still not solved by the above steps, you can share the recent progress with me in the reply. I will work with you to try other possible solutions to resolve the problem.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to your reply.
