Windows 10: Error while plugging in a second USB disk while media creation tool is running

I don't have a proper error report, because I don't have the time to recreate the problem. However I'd like to caution others against trying to use a second USB drive while running the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool.


I was creating the media for a new Windows install and while the media creation tool was running I was going to copy some files that I needed to keep to a USB disk I use for backups. The tool even told me I could keep using my computer while it was working.


When I plugged in the second USB drive (with lots of backup files on it already), the media creation tool stopped working and gave an error code (which I did not write down). Not a big problem. But a somewhat bigger problem was that I could not read the contents of my second disk! It looked like the media creation tool had written to the wrong disk and damaged the contents of my backup disk :-( I tried several times to unplug and plug in the disk again without success. Fortunately, after plugging in the disk in a Linux box and restarting the Windows computer, I got Windows to recognize the disk again. It seems OK, but I have no good way to verify all of the data on it so I can't know for sure.

Windows 10 media creation tool - missing warning, disk got erased without question !!

I have not done anything more or less than trying to copy the install files needed for win 10 setup on the external hard drive using the Windows 10 media creation tool. Suddenly my drive had only one partition of 32gb, and all other data on the 1TB drive
was erased and unallocated(raw). The setup itself is 4GB.

So what I did was:

1. Download and run Windows 10 media creation tool
2. Plug in my 1TB usb 3 disk
3. Select that disk in Windows 10 media creation tool and press proceed
4. Windows 10 media creation tool "Finished", drive was completely erased ..

 

Window 10 Media Creation Tool errors with 0x80070456 0xA0019

I am trying to use the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB flash drive but am getting an error message. It seems download the files successfully but fails part way through transferring the files to the USB drive.

The error message code I get is "Something went wrong ... 0x80070456 - 0xA0019"

The steps I take are

1. Run the program
   
2. Accept the license conditions
   
3. Choose "Create installation media for another PC"
   
4. Language "English (United States)", Edition "Windows 10", Architecture "64-bit (x64)"
   
5. Choose "USB flash drive"
   
6. Choose the USB flash drive from the list
   

I am running Windows 10 Professional. The USB drive is 64Gb.

 

Media creation tool error: "There was a problem running this tool"

I'm trying to upgrade my pc from Windows 10 32 bit to 64 bit. I tried to create a USB installation disk and I plugged in my USB. When creating Windows 10 media, the progress stuck at 50%. Then it shows "there was
a problem running this tool". The error code is 0x80070005 - 0xA001A. My pc is x64-based processor and my processor is Intel core i3. Any help is appreciated.
