Windows 10: Errors updating to Windows 11 Dev - 0x8007042B - 0x4001E

Hi,About few days ago , I join the Windows Insider Preview.Yesterday,I update 25247.1000,around 95% thourgh the install,the upgrade reverts back to 22621.819 like nothing happened. The error I am getting is:0x8007042B - 0x4001EThe installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during PRE_OOBE operation.So I search for some information in the Community,I see a question-Errors updating to Windows 11 - 0x8007042B - 0x4001E - The - Microsoft Community,here's the link.I do a disk check of system drive,but when I want to open eventvwr.msc to check out the logs,IT DOESN'T WORK!Almost all

Anniversary update fail. Error 0x8007042B - 0x4001E

I have been attempting to upgrade windows 10 pro, from version 10240 to version 1607 (anniversary update). I have tried both the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant and the media creation tool (ISO). I get to 96% and, boom, every time it resets and restores my system to where it was before the upgrade started. The error I get is as follows:

0x8007042B - 0x4001E
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during PRE_OOBE operation.

I have searched for an answer and haven't found one. I have tried to trouble shoot it as best I can by unplugging everything but my keyboard/mouse, updated chipset, etc.. MS techs haven't been much help. Any thoughts? The iso is not on the OS drive, not sure if that matter. I would rather not have to nuke the system. I hate having to reinstall programs (adobe is the worst). Any help is appreciated.

I have been attempting to update to Windows 11 using an ISO file. Around 91% through the install, the upgrade reverts back to Window 10 like nothing happened. The error I am getting is:

0x8007042B - 0x4001E

The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during PRE_OOBE operation.

The setuperr.log file is telling me this is the culprit:

Mig::CLibTransport::StoreObject: Failed to store object for File\C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform\4.18.2101.9-0\MpCommu.dll. Error: 0x80071160: Win32Exception: unable to read on FileStream: The WOF driver encountered a corruption in the compressed file's Resource Table. [0x80071160] int __cdecl UnBCL::FileStream::Read(unsigned char *,int,int)[gle=0x00001160]

Error WRITE, 0x00001160 while gathering/applying object: File, C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform\4.18.2101.9-0 [MpCommu.dll]. Will return 0[gle=0x00001160]

I cannot delete or move the file in question since it requires SYSTEM permissions. I also attempted to do an "upgrade" to my current Windows 10 version and it also failed for the same reason.

I have run chkdsk, DISM RestoreHealth, sfc /scannow, the online Windows Update troubleshooter, no luck. I am not sure what my options are here. I have seen this error posted in other forums for different DLL files, but I have yet to see my exact issue or an actual solution. Upgrading with removing apps and personal files is a last resort and would like to avoid that if possible. Can post the full logs if needed.

error 0x8007042b when adding a Yahoo Mail account to MS Mail App

I went this route and added passwords for yahoo mail. I might try this method above to get gmail to buck up! *Tongue

@Bastet, this is probably what you were referring to the whole time.


YAHOO MAIL FIX
2FA needs to be enabled which it already was and just follow these steps below.

1. In yahoo mails account security, click on manage app passwords.




2. After selecting other app and entering the new app name in the text box




3. Now, in Windows 10 mail app, add this type of account.




4. In Windows 10 mail app, enter your details and the password generated by step 2.




Fully functional mail app again.



GMAIL FIX

Now similar steps to setting up Gmail. Here I'll only go through the Gmail steps as Windows Mail App setup is the exact same.
