Windows 10: Ethernet cable not working and "Can't reach the DHCP server"

I have recently bought a ethernet cable after using a wireless usb adapter for around a year. I unplugged the wireless adapter and setted up the ethernet cable, but i wasn't connected. The cable is almost definitely connected properly, i can see the light turn on when plugged in. I diagnosed the network connection and in the Get Help window a big yellow "Can't reach the DHCP server." message on the top. I tried every single recommendation, looked online for answers, done some commands in powershell and console, turned the router off entirely, annnd nothing works. Please send help

Ethernet cable not working.

You need to solve your problem one step at a time, e.g. like so:

• Connect your CAT5 cable directly to your router. If it does not work, replace the cable.
• Connect the cable to your TP-Link wall plug. If it does not work, reconfigure or replace the wall plug.

 

Ethernet adapter subnet mask

Windows assigns an IP address in the 169.254.x.x/16 IP, if:

• Ethernet cable unplugged at either end
• Cannot get a DHCP assigned IP from the DHCP server

Maybe the router does not have the DHCP server enabled for the LAN?

 

Can't Reach DHCP Server

I am at a loss. I usually run a hardwired connection from my router to my computer, and this morning it just stopped connecting to the internet. When I try to connect I get "Can't Reach DHCP Server".

I tried unplugging the router. I tried restarting the router. I bought a new Ethernet cord.

I tried flushing DNS to see if that helped, and it didn't.

I tried restarting DHCP services: When I go in its running but to reset, it won't let me. It says "Error 5: Access Denied"

Finally went and bought a USB adapter just to get some connection- but it is SO SLOW.
