    Ethernet connected yet little to no connection on PC


    Hello, I am having network issues concerning my ethernet. I use ethernet via a cable to connect my PC to wifi. Recently, despite being connected, I am noticing I am having little to no connection/ really inconsistent connection. I can’t load any games or application and when I can, It is either too laggy or poor connection means I can’t do anything. However, I can still use google and browser searching just fine. I have noticed it has more affected my downloaded applications Steam, Discord etc.. I have tried everything, flushing my DNS, restarting my router, moving my router closer for a bet

    Using a router to connect PC with Ethernet

    Their is only one phone jack where a modem can be placed in our house and it is to complicated to get Ethernet from the modem up to my computer. I can still connect with wireless internet but I want to be able to use Ethernet. The modem is a all in one (router+modem). If I buy a router and place it in my room can it connect to the all in one modem without using a phone jack (Just plugging it into the power outlet) alowing me to connect the router to the PC using Ethernet?

    Please permit me to respectfully disagree, battlezone. Not only is it possible to do this, TenForums offers a tutorial that explains exactly how, step-by-step: Set Ethernet Connection as Metered or Unmetered in Windows 10. Do please check it out, won't you?

    We would like to ask additional information that will help us in resolving the issue.



    • What kind of computer are you using? Is it a desktop or a laptop?
    • Did you make any recent changes to your computer?
    • Have you tried troubleshooting the issue by yourself? If yes, what were the steps you have taken so far?


    I would suggest you to try the following and check:



    • Verify that the cable connects the modem to the wall jack is connected securely.
    • Verify that the cable connects the computer to the modem is attached securely at both ends.
    • Restart the router/modem.


    Follow the steps and let us know if it helps.
