Windows 10: Ethernet connection to laptop w/o ethernet jack

Hi,A few months ago I bought a new Dell Inspiron 5502 laptop with an 11th gen, i7 processor but it does not have an Ethernet jack. My internet speed on my last Dell laptop wired with an Ethernet cable was always @ 100mbps speed but it went down when I use my new Dell laptop wirelessly w/o an Ethernet cable. I have 100mbps speed Fios but all I get now is @68-72mbps on wireless. I called Verizon and they did a speed test and said it was because of my wireless setup. If I used an Ethernet cable directly to my modem the speed would go back to @100mbps. Is there a cable I can buy that connects my

Using a router to connect PC with Ethernet

Their is only one phone jack where a modem can be placed in our house and it is to complicated to get Ethernet from the modem up to my computer. I can still connect with wireless internet but I want to be able to use Ethernet. The modem is a all in one (router+modem). If I buy a router and place it in my room can it connect to the all in one modem without using a phone jack (Just plugging it into the power outlet) alowing me to connect the router to the PC using Ethernet?

• Update download was completed but installation did not complete and the message popped up that stated that update is not compatible and cannot be installed.

  • yes, tried different cables
  • (also same ethernet cable & connection works on my mac notebook)
• Have you made any changes to your computer setting before this issue occurred?
  • Can't say with certainty about changes, if any, made. Normally i don't fiddle with the laptop systems.
  • ethernet port was working just fine and suddenly became dsysfunctional about two weeks back.
  • Checked Network adapters in the device manager which highlights Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller with a yellow mark. Also checked network adapter driver which states that installed driver is the latest.

• Is the Ethernet working in other computers?
• Are there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue?
