Windows 10: Ethernet connects PC to internet fine but just has the same speeds as wireless

So wireless, speed is on average 500 - 800 mbps, mostly about 700~ though. I got an Ethernet cable for my PC, a brand new Cat8 one. It connects my PC to the internet fine so it’s working on that front, but the speeds and such are the same as wireless and I don’t know if I’m just being stupid but shouldn’t it generally be faster? am I doing something wrong?

Ethernet shows red X and does not appear in settings, but still works


Not sure why this is happening. I have working ethernet and am connected, it works fine. But the taskbar icon shows a red X over it, and the tooltip says "Not Connected - No connections are available". Looking in "Network & Internet", ethernet is not even listed there. And before anyone suggests wireless interference .. this PC does not have a wireless card or integrated wireless.

 

Internet connection speed challenge


When using wireless internet our 2 Dell laptops are getting download speeds of around 1.4Mbps. (we have a service that offers up to 24Mbps speeds).

Using the same wireless internet, my linx tablet gets a speed of 15Mbps, ten times as fast.

When we connect a laptop to the router using the ethernet cable we can also get that 15Mbps.

So the challenge appears to us to be around using the Dells with a wireless connection.

The network and Bluetooth drivers are the correct ones for Windows 10.

Can anyone suggest how we might resolve this please (and if there are things needing to be checked or settings changed, please explain exactly where to find them as chances are I won't know *Huh).

Win 10 Pro 22H2, Ethernet upload speed slow, Wireless and Ethernet in safe mode just fine

My Win 10 machine has upload speeds under 1Mbps when using an Ethernet connection. Wireless upload speed is 15-20Mbps. Safe mode Etnernet connection is also 15-20Mbps. Here's what I've tried:

• Install latest network card driver
  
• Run the network troubleshooter - no problems found
  
• Followed the netsh and ipconfig commands at Redirecting
  
• Reset connections via Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset
  

Any other ideas?
