Windows 10: Ethernet Connetion to my Desktop keeps dropping and reconnecting as of sometime this morning

For some reason, my Ethernet connection from our modem to my desktop has been constantly disconnecting every minute or so since sometime this morning. It was stable before today, but it started acting up and I've been searching for all kinds of things to try and fix it, but none have worked so far.


So far, I've tried:


Network Reset

Troubleshooterdoesn't detect anything wrong, unless the connection is down, in which case it tells me to plug in a cable...

Installing new drivers for my ethernet controller Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Uninstalling my VPNsnordVPN

Fiddling with the power saving settings for the Ethernet controller

Adjusting the Speed and Duplex setting for the ethernet controller. This seemed give us something stable when setting it to 10Mbps Half Duplex instead of Auto Negotiation, but the actual connection was unacceptably slowgoing from >400mbps down to <10.

All manner of dns flushes through the cmd prompt.

Disabling the network connections other than the ethernet one


I'm at my wit's end here. Am I really looking at a straight up hardware problem? I have tried plugging the same ethernet cable into a laptop and have not noticed drops there, and I don't see hiccups happening when connecting through the wireless connectionagain, with the laptop, my desktop does not have a wireless card becuase I haven't needed one


Not sure if it's a clue, but previously, my internet connection was stable and my Spotify app couldn't connect to the internet. Now it's terribly unstable but my spotify app can see the internet....

Windows 10 Enterprise Ethernet Connection Drops?

I just installed and plugged in a new Windows 10 Enterprise HP box into our network and it is intermittently dropping and reconnecting the Ethernet connection. It is not reliable.

Suggestions?

To create the Ethernet shortcut on your desktop, you can follow the step provided below.



Step: Create Ethernet shortcut on the desktop.

1. Press Windows + R key on your keyboard together.
   
2. Type in ncpa.cpl
   and hit enter.
   
3. You will see all your network adapter.
   
4. Right click on your desired adapter and click on
   Create Shortcut and allow the prompt.
   
5. Or you can drag and drop the network adapter on the desktop that will create a shortcut too.
   
6. You can now right on the shortcut on your desktop and disable and enable internet connection.

Wireless network drops intermittently, needs reset to reconnect

I noticed a strange (puzzling!) but extremely interesting phenomenon during a video conference call this morning.

1. The network dropped as usual, at some time during the video call.
2. But the video call using Zoom.us, *did not drop!*. That's right - the 1 hour of network down time did not affect the Zoom.us video call at at.
3. But other services, specifically, web browser-based services reported no network. I all my browsers - Chrome, Edge, FF - I could not connect to any websites. Also, I have "pseudo-web apps" running, such as WhatsApp's desktop app (which seems to be a shell around a browser), all of which seemed unable to connect. Google Hangouts could not connect either.
4. Weirdly, another collaboration desktop app that I used - Slack - was able to *partially connect!*. That is, I was able to send and receive messages on Slack while the network was out for the hour, but Slack *still* reported no network connection (weird!).

It leads me to believe (and I could be wrong), that *some* parts of the network seem to go down and not come back up until they wireless connection is reset. Maybe some ports, like 80/8080/465/587/110/... are being shut down?

Any ideas?
