Windows 10: "Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP configuration

I did a clean install of windows 10 after updating killed my Ethernet connection. I am still able to use a usb wifi on my desktop. I have tried so many things that I could find online and nothing has worked. I would love some help with this

Update: After rechecking my drivers and windows telling me they were updated I opened the properties to find they were last updated in 2015. I feel a bit silly. Downloaded the new drivers via wifi and fixed!

Diagnosis reports: "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration." There's no support offered for how to get a "valid IP configuration".
