Windows 10: Ethernet not working on laptop

Okay so, when I connect my ethernet cable to the ethernet port of the laptop it doesn't show that it is being used and I am sure the ethernet cable is fine since it works correctly on another laptop. My wifi works perfectly fine its just the ethernet which doesn't work. I've searched up videos on this but then it talks about having some sort of ethernet controller in the device manager, which I can't find unless I show hidden devices. When I click on the properties of the Killer E2500 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, it says "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

Please help I don't know what I should do since it should already be connected.

New build, all works but ethernet

Anyway everything works fine except for the ethernet port. Under device manager it is listed as "Ethernet Controller", under the category of "unknown devices" (along with several other unknown devices).

Thanks for the suggested solution which I tried. My feedback:

• Update download was completed but installation did not complete and the message popped up that stated that update is not compatible and cannot be installed.

• Are you experiencing the same issue even when you are using another Ethernet cable?
  • yes, tried different cables
  • (also same ethernet cable & connection works on my mac notebook)
• Have you made any changes to your computer setting before this issue occurred?
  • Can't say with certainty about changes, if any, made. Normally i don't fiddle with the laptop systems.
  • ethernet port was working just fine and suddenly became dsysfunctional about two weeks back.
  • Checked Network adapters in the device manager which highlights Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller with a yellow mark. Also checked network adapter driver which states that installed driver is the latest.
