Windows 10: Ethernet not working

Hi there,My 13yo son built a gaming computer about 6 months ago. He read that he should replace the thermal paste every 6 months, so 10 days ago, he did that. The computer worked beautifully before he replaced the thermal paste, but after he completed the replacement, he encountered a couple issues. First, when he booted up the machine, everything he had installed was gone. The OS Windows 11 remained, but every program and file was gone. Is this normal? He thought it might have happened because he also disconnected the CPU when replacing the thermal paste, but wasn't sure if that was the ca

New build, all works but ethernet

Anyway everything works fine except for the ethernet port. Under device manager it is listed as "Ethernet Controller", under the category of "unknown devices" (along with several other unknown devices).

 

Domain network ethernet not working but wifi does?

Hi FreeBooter, I already came across this article and followed the steps with no results, I came across other articles that suggested the same steps but still nothing has worked? Thanks for the reply.

Go to the asus web site and look up your motherboard model. Then go to drivers and download your ethernet driver
