Windows 10: Ethernet plugged in but no internet

I have FiOS internet. An Ethernet cable runs from the outside box into my router. From there I use an Ethernet cable running from the router into my PC. I have never had Internet problems until yesterday. I remoted into my PC. I opened a browser, and it said no internet. Seemend strange seeing I could remote in. I went through troubleshooting steps, and eventually got kicked out of my PC.I get home, and power cycle to PC and the router. Nothing. I check all connections in my house, everything is connected. I take to Ethernet cable and plug it into my Mac. I get internet. The only t

That's the only way to do it. Unplug the ethernet cable, turn sharing on for your wireless connection (not the ethernet one). Then you should plug the ethernet cable into your router's internet port and the other end into your laptop, then plug in your computer. The only reason that would not work is a bad setting somewhere. Try that and get back to me. What is the error that comes up? Something about 192.168.0.1 already being on the network?

All that stuff is running and still get the same error. This is with the ethernet unplugged and the internet connection enabled.

Just to be clear, i still have connection from laptop->wireless router when i plug in the ethernet, it is only the internet connection that goes down.

I don't necessarily even want to share the internet connection, I just want to be able to swap files between these two comps while still having internet access through ONLY the laptop.

boogah, i know that this is a complex way of doing it, but the desktop is a huge old beast that I have no space for downstairs where the router is and i dont have a long enough cable to run up to it.


Another idea, is it possible, since the old router has wireless as well (it is disabled at the moment) to use it like...hmmm struggle to put into words i'll do another picture:

 

Windows 10 after upgade to 1709 if keyboard not plugged then ethernet device is not detected.

When I start my windows 10 (1709 build) without plugging keyboard and mouse, it does not detect Ethernet card.

Mother board is of Intel and Ethernet is on board (integrated).

I have also installed latest Ethernet driver by auto updated drivers from internet.

Steps:

Shutdown pc

Remove keyboard and mouse

Keep lan cable plugged

Start pc

Ethernet device is not detected. It shows in list in Device manager screen. but with Yellow triangle.

Then I need to plug keyboard and just do a hardware scan then Ethernet is detected and all ok after that.

When I start with keyboard and mouse plugged in then it detects Ethernet card and available on LAN.

Am I missing something?
