Back at the end of February my work Windows 11 PC quit doing network for virtual machines. I had a Hyper-V vm that I keep for Win 10 32-bit app support. The Virtual Switch Manager now reports "generic error" when I attempt to open it to try to bring up the Hyper-V Manager ...

Ethernet problems after the latest W11 update.

    Hello,

I have a problem connecting to the internet on my Aspire A715-41G.

On wi-fi I have not problem, but when it comes to ethernet, I cannot manage to fix the issue.

I have tried literally all "fixes" on the 1st page of google.

My network device is Realtek PCIe Gbe Family Controller and tried to update it to the latest and tried several tools from their website.

This issue has occurred in the past with the 1st 22H2 version of W11, but I have rolled back and the issue was fixed.

This time I would like to enjoy the new features...

    I have attached 2 ss:

    1. My Ethernet Status window
    2. Error when attempting to connect to Microsoft login page;
NOTE: I am only limited on some pages of the internet and have tried multiple browsers.

Gromish, those are the fixes that work for ethernet problems. This is an interactive troubleshooting process. We don't give magic bullet fixes except in rare cases where they are known. That's because this is computer science, similar to rocket science. Now you have one of the most experienced experts on the web helping you, but it still requires doing the work to get it fixed. Those who eagerly jump in and try the fixes always get it fixed, one way or the other. Those who only want to complain that computer science is too complicated pass up the opportunity to learn and get it fixed. Why on earth would anyone insult someone who is trying their best to help you save hundreds of dollars in repair bills? Those steps I gave have worked for thousands of others.

It is telling that the only step you referenced - as though it was the only one I suggested - was the very last resort step reinstall which is actually a Repair Install which reinstalls Windows while keeping your files, apps and most settings in place, brings it up to the latest version and solves most problems. How to Fix Windows with a Repair Install It is barely more than System Restore in Step 1 which is a simple time machine to go back before the problem that works for tens of thousands of users a year here.. Did you even try that?

Ethernet problems after the latest W11 update.

Hi Gromish. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

If you're going to wait for Acer to post any new drivers then you may be waiting a long time. They rarely update their website and more rarely do they update any drivers. They simply want us to buy a new model.

Try these fixes for Windows 11 Ethernet:

    1) See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem started:

How to Use Windows 11 System Restore Point (4 Ways)

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began like a time machine. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started. If System Restore is not enabled on C drive do that now so it's available in the future.

If the problem repeats or System Restore doesn't work then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8280-hide-s...

If necessary System Restore and Uninstall Updates can also be run from the WinRE Repair Mode accessed one of these ways: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/boot-to-advanced-...

    2) Here are ALL the fixes that are working presently for Windows 11 Ethernet. Please work through them in order so you don't miss any until one works, ask back if you need any help:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/realtek-ethernet-...

    https://www.lifewire.com/fix-ethernet-driver-pr...

    3) Update your Network drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page. Everything else depends on this.

    4) Expedite install of all Windows Updates in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates, including needed restarts, then go back to check again until no more are offered.

Then go into Microsoft Store app > My Library > Get Updates and expedite all Store app Updates, too, until no more are offered.

    5) Establish a Clean Boot to turn off Startup Freeloaders that can conflict and cause issues:

How to Perform a Clean Boot on Windows 11

    6) Test for account corruption by creating a new Local Admin account to see if the problem goes away:

    https://pureinfotech.com/create-local-administr...

Sign into the new account, test it works correctly, if so move files over, test all apps work or reinstall any that don't. Then when ready delete the old account in Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users.

You can change it to your Microsoft account if desired in Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a Microsoft Account Instead.

    7) Download, install and run a full scan with free Malwarebyes from Free Antivirus 2025 | Download Free Antivirus & Virus Scan | 100% Free & Easy Install after enabling Root Kit scan in Scan Settings. Clean Up anything it finds and then run again. Turn off Real Time trial in Control panel to keep as on-demand scanner.

    8) Run System File Checker/DISM in WIndows 11 to find and fix any broken System files:

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/use-system-file-c...

    9) If that doesn't fix it then you can do a Windows 11 Repair Upgrade which reinstalls Windows while saving your files and apps in place, brings it up to the latest version by the most stable method, takes about an hour and resolves most problems: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-wi...

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
