Ethernet running slow and not reaching normal speeds after system refresh

Good morning. I am running Windows 11 Home. I have a Dell XPS 8940. I have 300mbps internet. However I had to do a Windows refresh last week for a locking up issue. Since then my internet speeds on my PC have shown very slow on a speed test. Where I was normally getting up to 340mbps using Ookla I am now showing topping out at about 100mbps. I had Spectrum come over here and they tested the lines, replaced my router and cleared up the signal. My mobile phone and my Fire TV are on Wifi and my Nintendo switch is on ethernet. When checking are all running at normal speeds but the PC does

    :)

  3. Ethernet internet speed is slow

Hi JadenLay and thanks for reaching out. My name is Joseph. I'm an independent advisor. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I would suggest you refer to the below steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

    Solution 1. Refresh Network.

    1. Open CMD as an administrator mode.

    2. Type in the following,

    ipconfig /release <Press Enter>

    ipconfig /renew <Press Enter>

    ipconfig /flushdns <Press Enter>

    ipconfig /registerdns <Press Enter>

    nbtstat -rr <Press Enter>

netsh int ip reset all <Press Enter>

    netsh winsock reset <Press Enter>

    3. Check to see whether or not the problem has been resolved.

Solution 2. Disable Large Send Offload (LSO).

If you’re experiencing slow LAN speed on your Windows 10 PC, the issue might be a Large Send Offload feature. In order to solve the problem, you just need to disable this feature by doing the following:

    1. Press Windows Key + X and choose Device Manager from the list.

    2. Double-click on your Network Card and click on the Advanced tab.

    3. Select Large Send Offload V2 (IPv4) and set the value to Disabled.

    4. Do the same for Large Send Offload V2 (IPv6).

    5. Click OK.

Solution 3. Change your DNS settings

If you’re having issues with slow LAN speed, the problem might be your DNS.

This issue is usually related to your ISP and its DNS, but you can always change your DNS. This process is relatively simple, and you can do it by following these steps:

    1. Type Network and Sharing Center. Select the first result.

    2. Go to Change adapter settings, right-click the Ethernet network interface, and select Properties

    3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and go to Properties.

    4. Select the “Use the following DNS server addresses” option and type your preferred and alternate DNS addresses.

    5. You can use Google’s Public DNS addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, OpenDNS addresses 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 or other DNS addresses.

    6. Check to see whether or not the problem has been resolved.

Ethernet running slow and not reaching normal speeds after system refresh

USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter not reaching full speeds on USB2

    hi guys,
I have an odd problem - just recently we moved to Germany and there's a new connection here, with a Fritzbox, which seems to be popular, and here's the situation.

I have an ASUS VivoBook S15 S510UQ that I really like, overall works well. Now something strange happened since arriving here. I wanted to test the speed of the connection with the Ethernet Cable and saw it was quite slow, and wifi going faster....which is very odd..

so this is the setup: Hamlet USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter going to the Ethernet Cable, I will attach 2 speed test screen shots so you will see.

Basically when the adaptor is plugged to the usb2 port, it doesn't go past 10-11mbps which is very slow (basically 1.4 MB/SEC) whereas if I plug it into the usb3 port, it goes to the full potential of this connection which is approx. 160mbps that is almost 20 MB/SEC and that's quite great.

Now this might seem normal, usb3 adaptor in usb3 port, etc but the thing is it never behaved this way and also, on my wife's Win10 PC (same setup as mine pretty much) but it's a Lenovo Yoga, it does exactly the same speed on both USB2 and USB3 ports, maybe 1mbps more than mine but we'll leave that one out.
In Italy I have a 200mbps connection and I am able to reach 198 mbs with the speed tests on the usb2 -- that was a few months ago.

Now I updated the drivers of the USB adaptor and nothing changed, the only recent thing happening was a windows update and that's that.

Do you guys have any ideas? Oh and to complicate the situation, when I go into STATUS it shows 1 Gbps in both configurations usb2 and usb3 - it's just the throughput that dramatically changes?

any ideas? Asus support suggested me to reinstall the chipset drivers, which I did but nothing changed and I don't want to do a system restore as the machine runs well. I usually keep the SS USB3 free in case I have to transfer files with the external hdd and not for the internet....oh well....

The usb is recognized by windows as ASIX AX88179 USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

    on the USB 3
