Windows 10: Ethernet Speed Limited to 10 mbps

Hello,As it says on the tin, my ethernet speed on my PC is been limited to 10 Mbps when previously it has been running at a constant 1 Gbps when checked in the network settings. I've ran internet speed tests and downloaded games on Steam and the Xbox App to confirm the problem, as on average I would usually get speeds of 600-800 Mbps , but now it won't even break the 10 mbps mark. I've tried updating my network drivers when offered as an optional download on the Windows Settings, and that allowed my ethernet speed to go back to being 1 Gbps, but shortly returned to 10 mbps. Ethernet Link Speed at 10 Mbps

Hello, I have been having some slow ethernet. I went through the settings and in the properties for mt connection it says the link speed (transmit/receive) is at 10/10 Mbps. When I try wifi its capped at 520 Mbps but its very unstable most of the time, so I want to use ethernet. Here is some information about my situation:

• Using a Cat.6 Cable
  
• Tried reinstalling ethernet drivers
  
• I tried resetting the network through the settings

I would really appreciate additional ideas on how to fix this problem.

Ethernet speed limited to 10mbps

The other thing to look at is the lights on the Ethernet port, if you have any. There would normally be two, one would be blinking orange/yellow with activity and the other would be either green, yellow or not on. If it is present but not on, then the speed is 10 Mbps. Since your link speed verifies it is 10 Mbps something is limiting that speed.

There should be two lights. It seems different manufacturers set these up in different ways. One blinks while the other tells the connection speed. Green is normally the fastest, orange and then no light for slowest.

If you network link speed is showing 10/10 Mbps then it appears to be limited by your computer or perhaps your router.

I will see if I can find some info on your Ethernet adapter. You also might try another Ethernet cable in case there is something wrong with yours.
