Windows 10: Ethernet speed slower on Windows 11 than other devices

Hi All,I’m posting here because I’ve hit a wall in trying to resolve an issue with my new PC. I’ve got an ASUS TUF X670E Plus motherboard that has an onboard Realtek 2.5Gbe Ethernet port. I’m using a Cat6a cable, and my internet connection is FTTH with 1Gbps up and down.The issue I’m facing is that my internet download speed maxes out at around 600Mbps on average, while my upload speed consistently hits the expected 925Mbps. Here’s what I’ve done so far to troubleshoot:Tested the Cable: I plugged the same cable into my Apple TV which has an Ethernet port, and I got a stable 920Mbps up and do

Download speed slower than upload speed

My Windows 10 desktop has slower download speeds (10Mbps) compared to upload speeds (30Mbps). On other devices connecting to the same router, I can get download speeds of 90+MBps on our 100/40 plan.

This is true whether I connect with ethernet or wifi.

I have changed the Windows update settings that limit how much bandwidth is used for downloading updates.

I have changed the NetworkThrottlingIndex registry setting to ffffff.

Is there some other Windows setting I can find and change, to improve this?

Firstly, could you let me know the specific system version (OS Build)? You can check it by pressing Win + X > System > Windows specifications, click “Copy” and paste it in your next reply.

You can follow the steps below:

1. I suggest that you check if the Ethernet adapter is enabled in the Device Manager. To do this, follow these steps:
   
   1. Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the list.
      
   2. Expand the Network adapters section.
      
   3. Look for the Ethernet adapter and check if it is enabled. If it is disabled, right-click on it and select Enable device.
      
2. If the Ethernet adapter is already enabled, try updating the driver for the Ethernet adapter. To do this, follow these steps:
   
   1. Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the list.
      
   2. Expand the Network adapters section.
      
   3. Right-click on the Ethernet adapter and select Update driver.
      
   4. Select Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the on-screen instructions.
      
3. If updating the driver does not resolve the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Ethernet adapter driver. To do this, follow these steps:
   
   1. Press the Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the list.
      
   2. Expand the Network adapters section.
      
   3. Right-click on the Ethernet adapter and select Uninstall device.
      
   4. Restart your computer.
      
   5. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver for the Ethernet adapter.
      
4. If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting the network settings on your Windows 11 computer. To do this, follow these steps:
   
   1. Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
      
   2. Click on Network & internet.
      
   3. Scroll down and click on Network reset.
      
   4. Click on Reset now and follow the on-screen instructions.

Wifi speed slower on pc than on Iphone.

I found the service (CFosSpeed System Service) causing my Upload and Download speed to drop significantly. I had about 5 Mbits/s Upload, which probably caused my ping ingame to be so high. But my Download speed is still slower than on my other devices.

Testing

Regular (promised) speed: 250 Mbit/s Download & 50 Mbit/s Upload

Actuall speed:

• PC: 165 Mbit/s Download & 50 Mbit/s Upload
  
• Iphone 11: 240 Mbit/s Download
  
• Samsung A52: 240 Mbit/s Download
  
• Iphone 13: 220 Mbit/s Download
  

I am satisfied with this fix, since I can enjoy games again, but if there is a possible solution for my drop in download speed, i would greatly appreciate it.
