Windows 10: Evaluation copy

There was a brief update today. The first snip shows the area just above the taskbar; the second shows the result from Winver.

What does it mean that this 'evaluation' copy expires in December? Will I need to purchase another copy? My version was not evaluation before today's update.

Hi Mike, do you mean an evaluation copy of Windows 10?

If so, a evaluation copy of Windows is activated with a product key that will run out after a period of time. You will then need to purchase a full Product Key to permanently activate Windows . . . .

Do you think you are running an evaluation copy of Windows - this would be really unusual . . .

Windows 10 Home Insider Build 10565 Evaluation copy?

Hi Michael,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows Builds.

I understand your concern about the watermark saying Evaluation copy, we will help you with this issue.

I would like to inform that you cannot remove the watermark.

Do let us know the activation status of the current operating system?

Steps: Press Windows key, type settings, select
Settings, click on Update and Security and
Activation.

Also, I suggest you to run the below command to check the activation status.

Steps:

Press Windows key, type Cmd, and select
Command Prompt.

Type slmgr /xpr (Not the spacing)and hit
Enter.

Check if it shows your computer is Permanently Activated.
