Windows 10: Even being an administrator in windows 11, when it try to rename a file/folder in F drive,...

Now when I try to modify controls from the security tab, it is the same thing in the image. I've tried it modifying via system generated administrator user. Still doesn't work.

Based on the information you have provided in your post; we need to do further investigation. To assist you better, we'd like to know the following:

• Have you tried using a third party software to manage the disk partition?
• Did you format the drive?

We suggest that you check for the drive in the Disk Management and look if it appears. Follow these steps:

• Log on as administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.
• Press Windows+R key and type diskmgmt.msc and then click OK.

Look if the Drive F: appears and check if it is unallocated.

Can't rename folder.

Thank you for following the steps. What we can try is using the Command Prompt to rename the folder. Kindly follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key and type "command prompt".
• Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
• Enter this command: cd /X: (X represents the drive where the folder is).
• Copy and paste this command after entering the first one: icacls * /T /Q /C /RESET.

Windows 11, folder renaming problem.

This is a Windows 11 bug. It happens with both folder and drive renaming in the Navigation pane. Additionally, often selecting "Rename", while in the Navigation pane, will do nothing at all.

As far as I can determine, the issue only happens in the Navigation pane. The workaround for now is to do all renaming in File Explorer's main window.

Please report this issue via Feedback Hub (⊞-F) in Windows. The more people that report it, the sooner it will get fixed.
