    Event id: 8233. The rules engine reported a failed VL activation attempt


    After restoring Windows 11, I keep seeing an error in the Event manager: The rules engine reported a failed VL activation attempt. Reason:0x8007007B AppId=0ff1ce15-a989-479d-af46-f275c6370663, SkuId=85dd8b5f-eaa4-4af3-a628-cce9e77c9a03 Trigger=UserLogon4 I found some advice in the documentation on what to do, but it doesn't apply to my situation. I have never had a corporate license on my device.

    The The rules engine reported a failed VL activation attempt error message is related to volume license activation. If you are receiving this in the Event logs, then you are most likely using a Windows 10 volume license key that is failing
    to activate. We suggest posting your query in our TechNet forums where we have experts who are more knowledgeable with these types of concerns.

    Hello I'm running Windows 10 Pro X64 2004 Build 19041.508

    Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.31.0

    In my settings, update & security, activtion tab it shows "windows is activated with a digital licence linked to your Microsoft account."

    Why does the event log keep reporting these failed VL activation attempts when it shows my windows is activated already?

    Before anyone mentions Microsoft Office, no i do not have this installed on my system.

    What keeps showing in the event log...

    Event 12288, Security-SPP

    The client has sent an activation request to the key management service machine.
