  1. Ever since the new update, using a second monitor has been weird

    I have version 2004 (windows 10), on an HP envy x360 15m-dr0012dx.

Ever since the new windows update, I have had lots of difficulties using my second monitor. Sometimes (randomly as far as I can tell), my computer will stop outputting the signal to the HDMI port, but it will still detect that there is another monitor plugged in (it just doesn't have any information about that monitor). And forcing it to pick a display mode extend, copy, screen 1/2 only doesn't work. Neither does unplugging the monitor or restarting the computer or monitor. In addition to that, while I'm on the Netflix website (not necessarily watching content), the computer will just switch to the built-in display for a few seconds then switch back, this happens every 15 minutes or so. My computer also has a hard time just straight up recognizing when a second monitor is plugged in, I have tried several monitors and even a projector, and they all just don't work immediately, I have to do several restarts and reinstalls of my graphics driver for them to start working.

I have tried restarting my computer and my monitor, I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics driver and updating it to the newest version. I just have no clue what to do.

If anyone has any pointers that would be fantastic because I'm at my wit's end.

By the way, this isn't just a problem with this monitor, it happens to anything I plug in.

  2. Second monitor not detected after update

    Hi Tom,

There are several reasons that could have caused the issue you are experiencing. One of these is the update you previously performed in Windows, either it was not configured properly by the system or the update components were corrupted. Kindly answer the
    following questions for clarification:

    • Have you tried updating the monitor and display drivers?
    • Have you tried to use another user profile to check if the issue re-occurs?

Furthermore, we suggest that you add the other monitor manually. This is to ensure that the second monitor is still connected after the update. Here are the steps:

    • Type connected devices and open Connected Devices on the
      Windows Search bar.
    • Click Add devices.
    • Select the Second screen.
    • Pick one of the 3 options: Duplicate, Extend, and the Second screen only.
    • The Duplicate option will duplicate the primary display to secondary display.
    • The Extend option will unite two monitors so you can use them both as one.
    • The Second screen only option will, obviously, disable primary and use only the secondary monitor.
    • Once you’ve chosen the preferred mode, save changes.

We're looking forward to your response.

  3. Second monitor screen resolution problem

    Hi,

For us to properly isolate the issue with your second monitor screen resolution, we would like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?

    • When did the issue first begin?

    • To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you try resetting your monitor settings, and check if the issue still persists. You may refer to your monitor on how to reset it.

We look forward to your response.

    Weird second monitor behavior

    Hi all,

I have installed Win 10 and it seems to work fine, with one exception.

I have two monitors installed. When turning the PC on, only the main one

works, the second one stays black. I thought it was a simple compatibility

problem but then I noticed that

    1. If I go "Start -> Reboot" the second monitor turns on and works fine on reboot.

    2. If I let the PC "time out" so that the energy saving settings kick in and

both monitors are turned off, when I move the mouse to resume working

the second monitor turns on and works fine. :-O

Some technical info, if needed: I'm using a desktop PC with Samsung

SyncMaster EX2220 as main monitor and SyncMaster 2023W as secondary

monitor. Both monitors appear installed on the "Settings -> Show Connected

Device" menu. Also, I tried updating their drivers and it says that both drivers

are already updated to the latest version. Same can be said for the GPU (AMD

    Radeon HD 7700).

Has anyone else had this weird problem?

    Thanks a lot!

    M.
