    Every few months, my Start menu disappears.


    It's THAT time of the year again. Microsoft have uploaded their drivel to my computer. Strictly against my will and in full knowedge that I had to accept eh terms and conditions because their competitive advantage means I had no other choice.Again, just like last time, just like very few months, I have lost the contents of my Start menu. I click Start or press Start on the keyboard and nothing happens.Again, just like last time, just like very few months, my only fix is to restore.     I tried all the suggested steps without any improvement. What's next?

    Start menu disappeared

    I am having the same problem. This was working for a month, now out the the blue it is not:

    • no Start Menu,
    • no search menu or function,
    • no Cortana,
    • no Edge
    • no Notifications
    Running sfc/scannow finds no integrity violations.

    Running DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    produces Error 87... option is unkonwn.

    Tried the Powershell command as admin, no change noticed.
