    Every keyboard I use eventually stops working properly


    I have been having this problem for a while. One day my corsair k55 keyboard would not register my inputs, and was typing a random string of characters/pressing a lot of shortcuts, rendering it useless. I have temporarily been able to fix this by uninstalling drivers etc. but after a couple of day it goes back to being broken.I have also been using a wireless polaroid HK8028. This keyboard types fine sometimes, but randomly disconnects and doesn't register my inputs. This keyboard doesn't type random keys like the K55.I am quite confident that this is a software issue, but I have tried everyth

    I realize that the keyboard is not working properly. I will try to help you with this issue.


    • Did you make any changes to the PC prior to this issue?
    Suggest you to plug in an external keyboard to check if that helps.

    Follow these steps to launch the On-screen keyboard:


    • Press Windows key + R to get the run window.

    • Type “osk” and hit enter to launch the On-screen keyboard and check if this helps.

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. I understand you are facing difficulties as your keyboard is not working properly. I will assist you with this issue.



    First of all, I would suggest you to install all the latest updates released by Microsoft from Windows Updates and check if that helps or not. And to update your drivers, please follow the steps and let us know if it helps fixing the issue or not:

    Open Device Manager by pressing Windows key + X, click on
    Control Panel; select System and Maintenance.

    • Click on Device Manager.
    • In Device Manager, locate Keyboard and double-click to check if it’s working properly.
    • Go to Driver tab, then click on Update Driver. And follow the instructions.
