Windows 10: Every Monday Windows 11 sets about deleting all of my Office shortcust from the desktop....

My work Laptop has windows installed along with office under my employers MS office license. Every monday, without fail the office icons are deleted by either ofuice or windows. I know they have been deleted as I see them in the recycle bin. I have a directory called "Icon save" that I copy from envery Monday to restore them but I can't find the setting in windows or office to stop this weekly waste of time. It only happens once per week and the installations are not affected as renistating the shortcuts will run the applications without a problem.Please help!Things I've tried:- Repair the

Deleted icons stay on desktop (not in desktop folder)

I can only suggest that you
1 Add a list of steps you have already taken.
2 Add a comment about restarting the computer. Do the deleted icons disappear then?
2 Add a comment explaining if any Desktop items do delete correctly and whether or not there are any significant differences between those that do delete correctly and those that don't.
3 Add a list of any OS tweaks you have done & any third-party OS-related utilities you have run.

I assume you have already reinstalled your display driver.
I don't see a Repair install as being relevant. Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

 

End of extended support for Office 2007 on October 10, 2017 Office

Assuming you have an older Office version such as my MSOffice 2007 [because current Office versions do not seem to work in the same way]:-

Step 1 - Run this Powershell PS1 file to create a list on your Desktop

It is based on code posted by 1981DMC in getting list of installed Office packages - SpiceWorks
I have not tested this with any Desktop paths containing special characters such as ampersands [&].

Step 2 - Open the list in Excel, freeze the top row, add AutoFilter to the top row so you can filter by blanks in the HelpLink column and delete those rows [those rows are not updates]. Save the file as an Excel file.

Step 3 - What you are left with are Office updates. There are a few repetitions in the list, because Windows records some of them twice, so use AutoFilter to sort them into DisplayName alphabetical order so you can spot and delete many of the repetitions. Control panel, Programs & features, View installed updates also repeats some entries.

Step 4 - Use normal Excel text manipulation functions to extract KB numbers into a column of their own. The HelpLink column is probably the easiest one to work with.

Step 5 - You could then be cautious and check against the list in the Office 'group' of Control panel, Programs & features, View installed updates to check for additional entries to add to OfficeUpdatesList.xlsx. I have just done so and the list produced in Step 1 matched completely [once you decide that repetitions in either list do not matter].

I have no idea if this procedure applies to later versions of MSOffice. I only have MSOffice 2007.
