Every time computer re-boots, it resets itself and will not remember any changes made prior...

I have been attempting to fix the Blue Screen of Death on my new desktop running Windows 10 pro 64bit.

The Blue Screen Of Death started last week while watching a streaming video on amazon.

BSOD gave the error "critical process died"

As of now, the BSOD occurs every 5 to 20 minutes after booting up my computer, which makes it very difficult to do anything. In fact, I was typing this up the first time on that computer when the BSOD happened, right before I could submit the question, so I am now forced to use my old laptop to submit this plea for help.

I have tried a lot of different recommendations from here and other site to no avail.

First of all, the advanced recovery environment screen (got to by holding shift while restarting).

None of the options in that section work. and by that I mean, I go to troubleshoot, click the "startup options" it tells me to restart, and instead of giving me a numbered list of options (so I could boot in safemode), it just restarts the computer and takes me back to the regular boot up.

If I choose command prompt from advanced recovery screen, it gives me an error and forces a restart.

If I choose "system recovery image" it restarts the computer and boots up regular windows.

If I choose system restore, it restarts and boots up regular windows

If I choose startup repair, it restarts and boots up regular windows

If I choose reset your PC, it restarts and boots up regular windows.

I have also tried using the system config to boot in safe mode (just restarts like normal)

I have run a command prompt from windows (as admin) and run the sfc/ scannow.

It say it fixed something but other it could not fix

and I have run dism in command prompt with scanhealth, checkhealth and restorehealth.

scan and check both say the drive is repairable and operation successful, but restore health has errors.

Nothing I do makes a difference because when the computer restarts, it just goes back to exactly how it was when the BSOD first happened. Even my chrome browser when opened after restart, ask to restore the same website I was on when the error first occurred...

I made the media creation tool using the instructions given by an IT person. I tried keeping my files and doing a clean install. neither worked. trying a clean install would not allow me to delete the old partitions on the hard drive and at least 1 partition had an error saying that the hard drive may fail soon.

I was allowed to proceed with a (not as clean) install, but upon completion, it just reloaded up the old regular boot up version, with all my old files and settings, no changes made.

When I check my hard drive health through the regular boot up, it says it is fine and working properly.

I have attempted to manually uninstall both 3rd party programs/apps, and previous updates.

each time it shows the uninstall was successful, but after restarting the computer, it just brings everything back.

Every time the computer is shutdown or restarted it loses any changes i have made.

    :)

    Changing Time Format

    Hi Mary,

There's a possibility that the set up time format in your computer Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is military time. To have this checked, you can try to reset the time of your computer through Control Panel. See the steps below on how to do
    so:

    • Open Control Panel > Clock, Language, and Region >
Change date, time, or number formats. This would open the
      Region
      window.
    • From there, click on Additional settings at the bottom part. It will open the Customize Format.
    • Click Reset; then, OK.

The steps should work; however, if not, we suggest that you contact manufacturer and have the BIOS time checked.

Let us know what happens after doing the suggestions .

    Computer wont boot... Please help

Go to your boot settings and remove the floppy drive in the boot sequence.

The CPU is running extraordinarily hot so I would suggest you double check that you're mounting it properly, that or download RealTemp and see if it's a BIOS bug.

Fail-safe settings probably set everything to default so if you've overclocked or something those will be reset to default. Just go back in and make the changes according to what you had prior to that.

Time computer takes to boot up

    Hi,

It is possible that it takes too long to boot up after the update because the Fast Startup is disabled. To efficiently assist you, we'd like to know what troubleshooting steps you've done so far.

Meanwhile, we suggest that you follow these steps on how to enable Fast Startup. This helps start your computer faster after shutdown:

    • Open Control Panel and go to Power Options.
    • Click on the Choose what the power buttons do link on the left side.
    • Click on the Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top.
    • If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes.
    • Ensure that Turn on Fast Startup is checked.
    • Restart the computer.

Let us know if you need further assistance.
