    Every time I start windows it says "Preparing Windows" and after that, all my data is gone!


    When I try to log in, it says "Preparing Windows". I wait for it to log me in then after that, all my data is gone! My files, everything is gone.I have tried safe mode and start-up repair but neither of those work.Windows 10 Pro.

    OS Install stops at "Windows preparing to start"

    Hi

    Trying to install windows from scratch on a computer. Tried with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. In both instances, it boots from the CD, loads the drivers and just before it starts it sticks on "Windows is preparing to start". I'm at work so can't list a detailed spec now but it's somthing like:

    AMD Athlon 800MHz
    512MB RAM
    80GB HDD
    LG CDROM
    Can't remember graphics card

    Tried swapping the RAM, changing the HDD and pulling out all the additional PCI cards... nothing is working... HELP!

    Why did the startup window get cleared?

    I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

    windows xp installation and dual core am

    could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
